Our overall design target for Woven was to mimic the effect of large-scale textural weaves, such as jutes and burlaps. However, since these looks have been around the wallcovering industry since "time immemorial", we at Source One felt we needed to add a much needed twist to this look. As strange as it may sound, we were completely enraptured by the simple weaves of both the woven plastic bags used as sand bags to stop flooding on city streets as well as the woven plastic tarps used as shelter and vehicle covers. The weaves on these seemingly mundane items is much less fuzzy and fussy than the standard jute weave. We felt these cleaner and crisper weave structures were more in keeping with today's sensibility.
