One of Bob and Sharon’s most prized paint brushes was made of elk hair by an artisan from New England. It was expensive (they still have the original price tag taped to the handle, lest we all forget to take care of it), but it’s a joy to use.
Bob and Sharon returned to the studio one day to find me up to my elbows in swashes, loop-d-loops and elaborate doodles. I had discovered the elk hair brush and gone to town. After scanning my favorite doodles, I assembled the brushwork into the coordinate patterns we now call Uppercase and Lowercase.
