Last year we were in Bali during their New Year celebration, which is called Nyepi Day, or the Day of Silence. The Balinese set aside this time to quiet their lives and restore their balance with nature.
Shops and restaurants close. The streets are empty and the airport silent. Everyone stays home to meditate and be with family.
To honor that tradition, we sat in the garden quietly sketching and painting. Our Nyepi pattern evolved from some of the watercolor studies Sharon painted that day.
The serene colors of Nyepi coordinate with Venetian Plaster and many of our other basic textures.
