Many years ago I worked as a design consultant for the Queen of Iran. I helped set-up a hand-woven textile program under the auspices of Iran’s social welfare agency. The textiles we developed were primarily used for home furnishings. Woven on dobby looms, the fabrics showcased the handspun yarns from nomadic and urban spinners. Caspian draws its inspiration from those simple, straightforward textiles.
