We recently spent a week in Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia in Spain. Legend has it that the city was founded by Hercules and later colonized by the Romans in the 3rd century B.C. Some remaining fragmentsof the original Roman walls are still apparent in the Barri Gotic (”Gothic Quarter”) of this vital and stylish city. It is these walls that served as the inspiration for Barcelona.
